Who are they?
Cohort 24 are children who were born in 2024 when they were 9 months old. All the children were living in the Republic of Ireland when they were invited to take part. In the first wave of the study, their parents/guardians took part in a survey. The infant had their weight and length measured by an interviewer.

The Central Statistics Office (CSO) finished data collection for the first wave of Cohort 24 in September 2025. They will now work on preparing the data so it can be used by researchers. The CSO will also publish some key findings from the data when they are ready.
The next wave of data collection for Cohort 24 will be when the children are 3 years old in 2027, although piloting work will start in 2026.
