Who are they?
Cohort 98 are adults who were born, mostly, in 1998 and were enrolled in the study when they were 9 years old in 2007. All the members of Cohort 98 were living in the Republic of Ireland when they were invited to take part. Interviews subsequently took place when they were aged 13 years, 17/18 years, 20 years, and 25 years. There was also a special COVID survey conducted online when they were around 22 years old in December 2020.
What’s happening now and next?
The Central Statistics Office (CSO) interviewed Cohort 98 at age 25 in 2023/24 and made the data available to researchers in the summer of 2025.
The next wave of data collection for Cohort ’98, is planned for when they turn 30 years old.
